Welcome to Reception

Mr Healey is our teacher. Mrs J, Mrs Pepper, Miss Bryson are our teaching assistants. Mrs Leighton teaches us on a Tuesday afternoon.

Useful information

PE Kits

We will have our PE lessons every Monday afternoon, your child will be required to bring in a full PE kit and pumps/trainers. These can stay in school and will be sent home at the end of every half term.

Outdoor day

Every Friday, we will take our learning outdoors. The children can come in their own clothes, (preferably clothes that are suitable for going outside and getting dirty). It would also be beneficial for the children to have a pair of wellies and a waterproof jacket that could be kept in school.

Reading books

Within the first few weeks of school your child will be assessed using our reading assessment scheme. After this, your child will be sent home with a reading book of an appropriate level and a reading journal for you to record their reading at home. There is an expectation that your child is read with every night.

School dinners/Snacks

If you would like your child to have a hot dinner at school, you will need to go to the school office and ask Mrs Stevens for your login and password. Your child will be provided with fruit as a snack during the morning, so you do not need to send your child in with their own.

If anyone would like to come into class and help with readers, your help would be much appreciated, just ask myself or another member of the team and we can arrange days and times.

Below is our long term plan for the Reception year ahead!
