Year 4/6 Hockey Club
17/03/2026 8:26 AM

Dear Parents,

There will be no Hockey Club this week (Thursday 19th March) as I am on a course all day.

I am going to continue to do Hockey Club in the Summer Term (hopefully with some better weather!). If your child is still interested coming along then just complete the form again when letters come out about clubs - there is a hockey tournament next term that a lot the children are interested in particpating in.

Dear Parents/Carers,

Please can the children bring in either a cardboard box or a carrier bag, so that they can take home their clay models from the last couple of weeks.

Kind regards

Mr Healey

Hello,

Please bring in a small empty box that we can use to make a wheeled vehicle  in DT on THURSDAY afternoon.

Examples of boxes that would work well include:

  • cereal bar box

  • small toothpaste box

  • tea bag box

  • small snack or biscuit box

The box will be used as the body of the vehicle, so something light and not too big works best.

In our recent lessons we have been learning about fixed and rotating axels and how the placement of the axle affects how a vehicle moves. To consolidate what they have learnt, the children will use their box to design and build a simple wheeled vehicle and test how fast and straight they move.

Thanks for your support,

Mrs J.

WOW school
10/03/2026 10:56 AM

Our school has chosen to be part of an exciting initiative to encourage more children and their families to walk to school. WOW – the walk to school challenge is delivered by Living Streets, the UK charity for everyday walking, to help as many children as possible experience the benefits of walking or wheeling to school. The pupil-led challenge enables children to self-report how they get to school every day.

If they travel actively (walk/wheel, cycle, scoot, ‘Park and Stride’ or hop-off) at least once a week, for a month, they get rewarded with a badge. It’s that simple! What are the benefits of walking to school?

 Children feel happier and healthier

They arrive to school refreshed and ready to learn

Helps reduce congestion and pollution at the school gates

What if we can’t walk to school? If driving, ‘Park and Stride’ to help your child earn their WOW badges. Park at least ten minutes away from the school and walk or wheel the remaining journey. If using public transport, hop off at least ten minutes away and walk the rest of the way (recorded as ‘other’ on the WOW Travel Tracker).
